Information sharing (my favorite web, food, tourism, etc ... and a bit of everything) and new technologies
With Google everything is possible as the SNCF
I do not think any of our daily computing service has been forgotten (mail, office suite, RSS, etc..), It can be scary on one side but I must admit that for now Google offers us even when simple and efficient service.
Today I wanted to let you discover a lesser known service offered by Google : project hosting.
It happens at the following address http://code.google.com , and the creation of a project is very simple, just click on the link Project Hosting click Create a new project in the next page and then enter the information requested in the creation form (name, summary, description, license tags and some that will classify the project) and validate it by clicking the button "Create Project".
In my example below for information are:
Project Name: ericreboissonproject
Summary: A demonstration project
Description: A demonstration project in which we find examples of Java code
License: LGPL
Tags: java, eric, computer, development
That it's over! The administration of your your project is now created (with my example of accommodation is available at the following address http://code.google.com/p/ericreboissonproject/ ):
Among the features you will therefore find everything you need to collaborate on a software project:
- A page for the project
- A download page
- A wiki for managing project documentation
- A bug tracking system
- The administration Subversion project and the connection string to use with a client Subversion .
So much for a quick overview of the service, compared with other services, such SOURCEFORGE.NET or Tigris.org , I appreciated the speed project creation (no waiting for moderation of directors) and to my meaning all the features needed to manage a collaborative software project are met.
Now remains to find a project idea, a team and get to work!
